Storefront Report: Highland Park gets juicy

The Juice coming soon to York Boulevard

HIGHLAND PARK — If the opening of the neighborhood’s first Starbucks has residents riled up about gentrification, imagine what they will think about the arrival of a new cold, pressed juice bar selling a 16-ounce bottle of Apple-Celery-Kale-Romaine-Parsley-Lemon-Ginger for $9?  We will find out soon as Atwater’s The Juice prepares to open a York Boulevard outlet inside a former VW auto parts store next to Chicas Salon.

The Eastsider contacted The Juice to find out more details about the new dark-blue shop, including when it’s expected to open.

  1. Juice places are nothing new to York Blvd. I would think that Jugos Azteca’s prices are lower, but I’ve never been.

    • Jugos Azteca is $4 for a very big juice. Great place and friendly folks. And they have Elote. I’m sure the $9 juice place does not have Elote!

      • I gotta give Azteca a try next time I’m on York.
La Palapa is my usual jamz

        • Taylor @ What Vegetarians Eat

But is it organic? Some people may turn their nose up at people who buy only organic but I would pay a little extra for something that has not been contaminated with hormone-disrupting pesticides!

$9 might still be too steep for me, though. I’ll just make organic juice at home!

      • Jugos Azteca is great. They sometimes have guanabana too! As for “COLD PRESSED”…. whatevs. They sell it at Trader Joe’s now too. Its a fancy process for fancy juice drinkers with fancy wallets.

  2. 9 dollar juice? That sounds like something white people drink. It’s not something I would pay for, therefore it has no place in HLP, which belongs solely to me and my brown skinned friends. Stop ruining our community with your upscale caucasian beverages!

  3. slowdownonlaguna

Congrats to The Juice team! Huge fan of the Atwater location and can’t wait for this to open within walking distance from my house. A blend of Vegan coconut ice cream with a #4 is what I’m talking about!!!!!

  4. Very nice addition
