Church seeks to cash in on Silver Lake real estate

Hallelujah Prayer Center in Silver Lake is up for sale

SILVER LAKE  –  The Hallelujah Prayer Center in Silver Lake is perhaps best known around the neighborhood for the giant mural of a Jesus-like figure and a flock of sheep, with the pastoral painting wrapping around the  facade of the church and retaining walls. But Jesus’ days in Silver Lake may be numbered. The church property that looms above Glendale Boulevard has been put up for sale $4.1 million, according to a listing on LoopNet.

Instead of serving as a future home for another religious institution, the listing for the church and an adjacent parking lot and home suggests other uses,  describing the property as a “prime Silver Lake area development opportunity.”

In fact, the nearly 1-acre property sits between the 63-unit Latitudes townhouse project now under construction on Waverly Drive and another cluster of townhouses planned for the former Coffee Table site on Rowena.
