BOYLE HEIGHTS — Lending library and bookstore Libros Schmibros celebrated its fourth anniversary on Sunday with a packed house and accolades from the Mayor’s office. Priding itself as a community bookstore, Libros Schmibros offered customers three books of their choosing for $5 at the celebration. Horchata and fruta were on hand at the bookstore at Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights.

“We had come to this project with a love for the neighborhood, and for literature,” said co-founder Colleen Jarretche. “There’s such a diverse intersection in this part of the community, so many were so responsive to our presence.”
