  • The city is close to buying a former rail yard on the border of Cypress Park and Glassell Park for use as parkland, reports StreetsBlogThe City Council last year voted in favor of negotiating to purchase a portion of the former Taylor Yard as part of  efforts to create  public green space and restored wetlands along the L.A. River.
  • Cat News:  A Boyle Heights gallery is exhibiting more than 300 paintings, drawings, photos,  sculptures and other works devoted to cats, reports the L.A. Times.
