News & Notes:

  • Last week’s shooting of a female motorist on the 5 Freeway in Atwater Village could be connected to the recent shootings in the Valley and West Hollywood, reports the L.A. Weekly.
  • A developer is expected to be named soon to build a 200-room hotel on the grounds of USC Health Science Campus in Boyle Heights, reports Curbed. The hotel is part of a masterplan to develop the university’s property with student housing and office space.
  • Cal State L.A.  in El Sereno  was ranked No. 7 in this year’s rankings of master’s universities conducted by  Washington Monthly’s College Guide, which takes into account recruiting and graduating low-income students, research and and community service.
