HIGHLAND PARK –  The Hive Los Angeles, a salon and boutique, has become the most recent Silver Lake business to open an outpost in Highland Park.

Nearly six years after opening their Silver Lake salon, Charles Renn and his sister, Lissa, opened their Highland Park shop this month in the 5600 block of York Boulevard. “Many of our friends and clients have moved here over the years, and we see a definite opportunity to grow with the changing neighborhood”, said Lissa in a statement.

The former York Boulevard antique shop is larger than the Silver Lake salon,  creating a more spacious environment for the four-chair salon, which will also sell  retail items produced by local artisans.  York is “a boulevard with a great community vibe, art walk, and potential for many new arts and cultural activities,” said Charles.

Other Silver Lake businesses that have set up shop in Highland Park include comic book store Secret Headquarters, which opened up Thank You on York Boulevard in 2012, and Pop Physique, which opened a fitness studio on Figueroa earlier this year.
