Power out in Echo Park [update]

ECHO PARK — A downed power line knocked out electrical service tonight to several blocks near Scott and Parmer avenues. One woman who lives near the intersection said she heard a loud pop or noise and then the lights went out sometime before 9 p.m.

Firefighters had blocked off Scott Avenue as they waited for LADWP crews to arrive and make repairs.

Update: More than 450 customers were still without power at about 11:30 p.m., according to the LADWP outage map. Service is not expected to be fully restored until 6:30 a.m. on Monday.

  1. There was a huge burst of light around 8:15pm. Tons of people came out to find out what is was. Here was no sound – just a really bright light, then the power company trucks came rolling in…

    • I saw the flash of light all the way from Avon Park Ter. We were watching TV and saw the flash of light out of the windows in the general direction of Scott…

  2. I wonder if that has to do with our street lights in our neighborhood. The street lights have been down since Friday. Homes have power but not the street lights. This starts from Patton Street through Colton and Douglas Street.

  3. This is news? Lol !
