Eagle Rock Music Festival: Colorado Boulevard comes alive with its own eclectic festival, featuring an exciting lineup, and with a suggested donation of only $10. This modest festival is the alternative to larger festivals and definitely plays up the neighborhood element with some businesses hosting live music. Saturday, October 4 on Colorado Boulevard

cinco-001CicLAvia: There is no starting point to Sunday’s CicLAvia. It’s a time to enjoy the city without cars, either via bicycle, push scooter, skateboard or on foot. This year’s route crosses from Echo Park, to the downtown Theater District, over to Mariachi Plaza, Boyle Heights and East L.A. Motorists can expect road closures, while the rest of Los Angeles can go at their own pace. Sunday, October 5 | Heart of L.A.

Closing reception for Notes from the Chicano Sublime at Avenue 50 Studio. This abstract work promises to stimulate not only the cosmic centers of the brain, but also stir the biological and spiritual nerve centers as well. Mixed media with paint; human consciousness and twine. Saturday, October 4 | Highland Park

Hardware Studio in Boyle Heights is doing the neighborly thing and hosting a full schedule along CicLAvia as an unofficial pit stop with refreshments and music. There will be an early breakfast, then a group will ride the course and circle back for the Bodega Sunday after party. Sunday, October 5 | Boyle Heights
