La Brea yoga studio expanding into Echo Park – not Silver Lake *

Modo Yoga opening soon in Echo Park

Storefron ReportECHO PARK —   The  website and a  video on Facebook  proclaim that Modo Yoga Los Angeles is opening soon in Silver Lake.  However, the owners of Modo Yoga should have glanced at the Echo Park Animal Hospital next door to find out where they will be opening their second location.

The La Brea Boulevard yoga studio, which offers “green, clean, hot yoga,”  is expanding into an industrial/warehouse building that has over the years housed a variety of artists studios and commercial businesses.

Yoga classes are already taught in a numerous studios, homes and parks across Echo Park as well as Silver Lake.  Will yoga have a future on Glendale Boulevard, too?

* Correction: A previous version of this post said that a banner hanging from the building said the Modo was opening in Silver Lake.  That’s wrong. That information can be found only on the studio’s website and Facebook page.

  1. At least they didn’t call is Beverly Hills

  2. Classic lame brain La Brea hood move. They get no respect.

  3. yhea this is borderline. Who cares if they say its in silver Lake. Who wouldn’t everyone knows how much cooler Silver Lake is than EP

  4. @all of you who are wrong…..in actual fact it’s “Edendale”, home of Mack Sennet and Selig-Polyscope Studios….hence Edendale Post Office and Edendale Library. Edendale eventually became Echo Park…….troll over to Benton Way, or under the 2 fllyover and you can claim to be in Silver Lake…..or like those sad, towering human cages being built by the 2 fway offramp, “Sunset Junction” Adjacent…..Hi-larious! http://www.theeastsiderla.com/2014/08/sl70-is-now-open-new-modern-homes-in-silver-lake/……”Just steps away from Intelligentsia Coffee and Pazzo Gelato…..Right…if you’re the Jolly Green Giant!

  5. Great. Now we’ll all have a nice place to go calm down after getting shafted for a $5 lukewarm pour-over by a terminally hip barista.

  6. EchoParkGuerilla

Jesus, snarky enough tone in the article, or bother to get a comment from the owner much? If you are serious about yoga, there is nothing better than modo. This will serve downtown as well as NE LA. They have a community service program and also a work exchange program if you can’t afford classes. As for geography, I always considered the area from glendale blvd. to waterloo ave. the DMZ between Echo Park and Silver lake.

  7. Geez, am I the only EP resident who’s totally excited about this? Modo is great!
