Located on Fountain Avenue in East Hollywood (close to Los Feliz and Silver Lake), is Beat Bop Boom: a little shop filled with new and vintage music t-shirts, posters, kooky housewares, accessories, and memorabilia. “Unique.” “Punk rock.” “A little gem.” “Very underground.” “Like 1980s St. Marks Square in New York City.” “Cool stuff!” Those are just some examples of how others have described this fun and unusual shop.

According to owner Adrienne Dancer, “The name Beat Bop Boom came about from my love of different genres of music: 70s and 80s Punk Rock, 60s Mod and Soul, and 70s and 80s Rock. I actually listen to a wider range of styles, and that is definitely reflected in the merchandise that I select for the shop–but, I figured that a three word business name was long enough for people to try to remember.”

“It started with music tees and buttons. I would wear various Brit Pop, New Wave, Metal, Goth, and Punk t-shirts or vintage music buttons and people would always ask me where I got them. So, I figured that I could start stockpiling them and maybe sell them as a side business. Right before I opened up the shop location, I started adding music memorabilia, cool baby items, and quirky household things, too. Most people come in and buy for themselves, but many people come here to buy gifts for others. We also do a lot of online business, as well–especially to Europe.”

Most items are in the twenty dollar or less range. Framed posters, memorabilia, and jewelry can be found for slightly higher prices. New arrivals are added frequently, and the shop has some upcoming events planned which will be posted on their website.

Beat Bop Boom is located at 4912 Fountain Avenue and is currently open Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from Noon until 7 p.m.
