Highland Park – The Garden Cooperative Nursery School has lost its mascot, a tortoise named Truck. Parent-teacher Alissa Rice is asking for help to get Truck back in school:

Truck, the beloved tortoise and mascot of our preschool community, wandered off near Meridian Ave / Ave 51-2 / York Blvd. this weekend. He is getting ready to hibernate and we want to make sure he is safe for his big sleep until spring. He may be under a bush, or even stuck somewhere (tortoises are not especially agile, however this one can get himself wedged in some tricky spots). He has a special diet of broccoli, greens, yellow dandelion flowers and hibiscus. The children are understandably upset and appreciate your caring for their friend and pet until he can be promptly returned. Please, please let us know if you find him.

* Updated: Truck has been found and returned to the school.
