Eagle Rock – Fans of the Colorado Wine Co. were saddened this summer when Jennifer Morgan, who owned the wine shop with her husband, John Nugent, died at age 44 after battling leukemia. This week, Nugent announced that a new owner has taken over Colorado Wine, which he and his wife founded nearly a decade ago as part of a new generation of upscale businesses along Colorado Boulevard. In an email, Nugent said:

Jen and I started this business in 2005 and it will forever stand as one my proudest accomplishments in life. Most of you know that Jen passed away earlier this year. She loved and cared for this store like no other could…including me. She would want to thank all of you that supported us throughout the years, all the great friends we have made, all the weddings, birthday parties, and sad moments you let us share with you in our bar and in your homes. It was a remarkably gratifying and humbling journey for both of us.
Thank you, Eagle Rock. We love you.

Storefront ReportNugent said that the new owner, listed as Brett Christopher White on a state alcohol license, plans on keeping the name and same basic content.

Nugent and Morgan also opened Sunset Beer in Echo Park.
