Crime Check: Burglars strike in Echo Park & Silver Lake; lock your cars, El Sereno

At least a dozen burglaries across Echo Park and Silver Lake and a cluster of stolen vehicles in El Sereno were some of the problems reported during the past week, according to CrimeMapping.com.  Here are some details:

About a dozen burglaries and attempted burglaries have been reported across Angeleno Heights, Echo Park and Silver Lake during the past week, according to CrimeMapping.com.  Most of the crimes have taken place south of Sunset Boulevard, with one cluster near the Sunset Junction area (click here for a list of these and other nearby burglaries).  But burglaries were also reported in the 1500 block of Echo Park Avenue; the 1500 block of Coronado Avenue and the 1000 block of Waterloo Street.

Much of El Sereno’s motor vehicle-related crime last week took place in the blocks north of Valley Boulevard. Five vehicles were reported stolen in this area, with Boca Avenue getting hit twice on Dec. 4 and Dec. 5, according to CrimeMapping. com.

  1. Also a warning for Elysian Valley residents. There is a crew cutting out catalytic converters from cars (Honda) in a grey or white van with a second lookout car. It takes them minutes and there off.

  2. Odd that the auto thefts that occurred on McCollum don’t show on the map, nor the recent house break-ins. Their data seems incomplete.
