What a million dollar buys in Garvanza

It took four months but this renovated 1910 Craftsman that sits behind a tall fence sold for $1.040 million last month. That makes it the first single-family home to sell above the million-dollar mark in the historic Garvanza district in recent years, according to Redfin. It was only a few years ago when trying to sell a home above $500,000 in Garvanza seemed like an ambitious feat.

Atwater Village

  • 4101 Verdant St.
  • Priced at $499,000
  • Sold at $510,000
  • This house came with two bedrooms and a bold blue paint job.

Boyle Heights

  • 2420 Michigan Ave.
  • Priced at $1.499 million
  • Sold at $1.4 million
  • One of the selling points of this 20-unit apartment building is its proximity to the Soto Gold Line station.

Lincoln Heights

  • 360 W Avenue 26 #413
  • Priced at $200,000
  • Sold at $200,000
  • This studio-sized condo does not have a separate bedroom or much of a view but it’s located next door to the Cypress Park-Lincoln Heights Gold Line station.

Silver Lake

  • 1642 McCullom St.
  • Priced at $1.195 million
  • Sold at $1.195 million
  • A 1990s Mediterranean-style home with an attached garage seems more suburban than Silver Lake but there are relatively few homes this large – nearly 3,000 square-feet – in the neighborhood
