Police pursuit ends in Highland Park

Highland Park - Police apprehended two suspects tonight following a pursuit that began in Echo Park and ended near Monte Vista Street and Avenue 61, where one of the suspects was Tasered by police as TV helicopters recorded the scene from overhead.

ECHO PARK -- A new set of stop signs at Morton Avenue and Academy Road surprised some motorists today, with a few drivers blowing past the newly installed signs or coming to an abrupt halt. The intersection already had stop signs for those drivers heading downhill on Academy and Morton Place.

LINCOLN HEIGHTS-- Kris and Mike Kolker have amassed a large collection of murals and large artwork created by street artists as part of their musical writing business. Now, the couple are proposing to use that collection and their Lincoln Heights studio as the foundation for Los Angeles' first mural museum. But if their idea is to become a reality, the couple needs to overcome some major hurdles.

Silver Lake schools on the spot over measles vaccinations

SILVER LAKE -- A cluster of child care centers in Silver Lake are among the 1,500 statewide that were found to have measles vaccination rates deemed to be at the highest risk of outbreaks, according to an L.A. Times report. The schools were among those that reported vaccination rates of 92% or less last October to the California Department of Health, which published the results on its website.
