ECHO PARK — An armed man held up a 7-Eleven last night, making off with about $400 in cash while customers were inside the Glendale Boulevard convenience store, police said.

The robbery took place just before midnight, said Detective Joe Rios with the Northeast Division. No shots were fired, and there were no reports of injuries.

Rios was enroute to the store at Glendale and Berkeley Street this morning to view surveillance video. The suspect was a described as a Black male. Rios had no further details about the crime but said there have been no other recent robberies along Glendale Boulevard.

A resident who lives nearby said she was told that the suspect ran down Berkeley in the direction of Lake Shore Avenue.

“The police cars were stacked up about ten deep on Berkeley,” she said. “They were looking for the gun but I don’t know if they found it.”

  1. Second robbery in our neighborhood in a week — odd, considering how quiet it usually is. The employees at that 7-11 are so sweet and friendly, at least they’re physically OK.

  2. well the 7-11 on Sunset is pretty much a LAPD substation so they we’re at least smart enough to avoid that one.
