ECHO PARK — Several cars had their windows smashed and damaged overnight on or near the 1300 block of Allesandro Street.

An Allesandro Street resident said she heard “smashing sounds” shortly after midnight as a car headed north on the narrow street. She went out and found that the driver’s side window of one car had been smashed in. This morning in daylight, she found that the windows of two other cars appeared to have been hit with BB-gun pellets and some side view mirrors had also been damaged.

“I think that the vandal drove down the street shooting at car windows with some sort of air gun and maybe reaching out and messing with the side view mirrors,” said the resident who snapped photos of the damage. “The non-emergency police operator says that people whose cars have been vandalized should file a report with the Northeast Division.”

  1. “The non-emergency police operator says that people whose cars have been vandalized should file a report with the Northeast Division.”

And then the Northeast Division was all like:
    Leads?

    • I was thinking the same thing.

Is it normal for this scale of vandalism (tire slashing, window smashing) and theft (freaking catalytic converters! WTF!) to take place in a neighborhood? It seems like this and cars smashing into each other, buildings, and people are the top two stories on The Eastsider sometimes.

    • Well then, we know who did it. He’s on Radford by the In N’ Out Burger

  2. Aren’t the police supposed to be patrolling? Oh, I forgot. The donut shops are in Glendale.

  3. More gentrification = more frustration. Expect us.

    • LOL…WTF does “expect us” mean?

i’m sure in targeting random cars, the stupid kids who did this somehow managed to ONLY target “gentrifiers” (by which you mean white people, though you’re too much of a wuss to say it, even anonymously on the internet), and completely avoided mindlessly damaging the property of any long-term (but still not original) residents. uh huh, sure they did.

    • Oh for real?? Hahaha looks like proper dos is having another one of his Vietnam flashbacks. Whatever you do….don’t look at the birthmark on his neck cuz he flips out. Starbuck! Starbuck!

    • @pooper doos :
      Trust me, we expect you.
LA is overrun with moronic knuckle-dragging morally bankrupt vacuous d-bags.
Given the statistical likelihood of running into one, we have come to expect it.
      So yes, we expect you.

    • Your rhetorical style is buffoonish, but you make a good point. The rash of this sort of crime in the neighborhood is perhaps an inevitable expression of frustration.

      • bored kids have been busting up car windows and mailboxes since car windows and mailboxes were invented. linking this to gentrification is just asinine.
