ECHO PARK — Stephen Roullier looked out his window at Echo Park Lake this morning and noticed something unusual – the fountain in the middle of the lake was spouting Dodger Blue-colored water.  Is this photo for real? Yes, it is, said Roullier of the bold blue gusher.

“I saw it when I got up this morning. It didn’t last too long,” Roullier said. “I suspect it’s algae killer or some similar water treatment.”

Could be. Just after the lake reopened in June 2013 after a two-year-clean up, a chemical treatment to control algae turned the lake’s water dark blue and emerald green. The colors faded after a few weeks.
