Power outage hits Cypress Park & Mount Washington

L.A. DWP crews are working to fully restore service across Cypress Park and Mount Washington after several hundred customers —  including Mount Washington Elementary and businesses along Figueroa Street in Cypress Park – had lost power this morning.

The agency’s power outage page indicates that more than 600 customers were still without electricity shortly before 1 p.m., with full service not expected to be restored until 8:30 p.m.  However, a message on @LADWP said power could be back by late afternoon. It’s not clear what caused the outage.

Power was out for about 2-1/2 hours at Mt. Washington Elementary before service was restored around 12:30 p.m. Meanwhile,  in Cypress Park,  power was back at the Flying Pigeon Bike Shop, said owner Joseph Bray Ali, and other Figueroa Street businesses.
