Brush fire burns two acres in Elysian Park [updated @ 9:41 a.m.]

SOLANO CANYON — A blaze ignited by a homeless encampment cooking fire burned about two-acres of brush and grass in the eastern section of the park this morning, according to preliminary information from the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Update: The fire, attributed to a cooking fire near a homeless encampment, has been put out after LAFD deployed about 90 firefighters. There are no reports of injuries or damage to structures.

  1. why are homeless allowed to live in the park undisturbed while we can’t camp nor drink a beer in said park before a dodger game?

  2. This was very scary. It took several fire trucks to put this fire out. If this happened during a b- game, the emergency vehicles would not be able to respond in time. Traffic is being sent through pur streets to accomodate the team and corporation while we are put in danger. Stop this insane traffic through our narrow streets!
