ECHO PARK — An 18-year-old woman was in stable condition after being hit by a car in the 1400 block of Temple Street on Wednesday night, according to the Daily News.

The pedestrian was in the crosswalk when a motorist driving what was described as a dark colored Honda Civic hit the woman at about 9:30 p.m., police said.

Last year, a new traffic signal was installed about a block west of the crash scene at Temple and Laveta Terrace in an area where several pedestrians have been struck by cars in recent years, including three girls who were seriously injured in a 2011 collision.

“I have lived here for 17 years and this intersection is very dangerous,” a resident said in an email to The Eastsider after Wednesday night’s collision. “We have many nearby schools and parks and kids use this intersection on a daily basis.”
