  1. It’s gonna get crazy this year, hope you newcomers are ready for the violence…..it’s coming

    • What do you know about it? Are you planning on committing crimes, or encouraging others to?

    • “newcomers”? Your stupidity is showing MM.

    • I hope you’re ready for Mighty Morphin Powerviolence……it’s already here.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWNLxiQS7bk

    • The funny thing is Mando Medina or “M M” thinks that “the outsiders” would be afraid of this violence while he and his family are impervious to it. Dude, when it gets bad enough to force you to leave; that is when we go too. You have in your mind that somehow this crap scares us and we will leave because of it? We know that 1) these guys are going after each other, not us 2) getting hit by a stray bullet is 20 times less likely than winning the lotto while being eaten by a shark. You may want to join us rather than feeding your xenophobic tendencies.

    • Poor people love trash and violence because it keeps rents low and that’s all they care about at all costs, cheap rent.

    • You are right.

    • MM is right. I am pretty surprised at all the ignorant replies. A man was killed probly either a drug deal gone bad or most likely a gang murder. That means someone will be retaliating. That is what MM means by getting ready for more violence. I am pretty shocked at these replies from others that are not smart enough to know that. It is not about race. It is about anyone new here should get used to what has always been going on in this area and most likely will never change. That is what is meant by getting used to it.

I can not believe the ignorant comments. If you don’t want to know the truth then don’t live here.

        Susan R,
You are obviously not familiar with M M aka Mando Medina as we are. The responses you see here are appropriate based on his prior comments both on this site as well as twitter and facebook. You are the ignorant one here.

        • I am ignorant about knowing anything about MM. That is true. But these comments are true. I am only commenting on the comments, not on the person that I do not know anything about.

  2. reylene orduna

What the heck iis your problem ….. why would u say such a thing do u have no appreciation for the life god creates that guy was a son and brother a lover a father n thats the comment u decide to leave is out of this world ur not even human if u feel that way

  3. Mucho Mierda is an infantile racist class warrior who holds the whiny gentrification protest with the Nela Alliance. His moronic post glorifying gang violence that is 99.9% Latino on Latino not only degrades his constant failure at being a real community activist it actually perpetuates the negative stereotypes that propels his ignorant rage.
Hopefully the “arty liberals” who show up to the community meetings to gain better understanding of the Nela Alliance will someday recognize his hatful racist rants and connect the dots, he has already deleted his post on Twitter claiming “war” and “fuck hipsters” and about the black guy that was murdered this year….so at least he is aware of something.

    • Thanks citizen x for saying exactly what I and so many others feel about his response. As I stated in my post it takes a special kind of self hate to glorify such actions because of his attitudes to so call outsiders/new comers. I don’t see any difference in his attitude than that of other racist who advocates harm to others who don’t share there ethnic make up. The irony of his rants is that his hate is so deep that the death and bodily injuries to his own race doesn’t seem to sink in so long as whitey, blacky or whom ever he deems outsiders are scared off from living here. Racism is racism no matter the motivation. As you mention in your post when you tweet with such colorful languge as “war ” and ‘fuck hipsters” ,which incidently is code for fuck white people and for taking joy over the black gentlemen killed here earlier then that says all. Any asociation who does not distance them selves from such rhetoric is then adopting it or least in not condemning it endorses it. Therefore nulifying any credibility.

  4. It;s amazing to me for someone who is suppose to be an advicate for locals you sure are taking great glee over these resent crimes. To date these violent acts have been gang on gang 90% of the victims have been latino’s. Why in Gods name would you praise such a thing and why would you then spout out this vile and sophomoric venom on new comers. You are seriously a big part of the problem if you believe this is a better alternative to the gentryfication or if not that to many people deciding to settle here and invest in the neighborhood. It takes a special kind of self hate to not see what damaging comments are spewing from your mind. I dear say those who have settled here for many generations don’t accept this or feel it’s an accurate depiction of latin culture nor does it do anyone good to glorify so anti social behavior.

  5. The shrill and hysterical reactions to even the most general and vague comments is more disturbing than the post that trigger them. What are you people reeeally trying to prove? Other than sharing a deep and clueless sense of insecurity? Otherwise, there is no connection between his post, a recent surge in violence, “latino” on black violence (which is a cynical red herring), and reverse racism targeting whites. The schizophrenic profile framed by these dots only fuels your worst fears . . . Oh(?) . . . I get it. That must be your goal. In which case, brace yourselves for the self-fulfilling prophecy you desperately desire. I’m more concerned with increasing traffic congestion than the paranoid rants of petty bigots.

    • “The shrill and hysterical reactions to even the most general and vague comments”

Like this one from the NELA Alliance FB page?

Phil Rezendez: “Did you grow up in help ? Where we’re all these people 10 15 years ago these uppity white bastards wouldn’t even come to OUR hood ? F U go back to the west side !! NELA born and raised !! How bout you ? See you tonight.”

      • You spend way too much time trolling the internet. You should instead face your fears, grab a folding chair, make your way to your favorite taco truck, and Re-Lax. My favorite is the one parked at the car wash on York but to each his own. The point is that I guarantee you will reach your destination, enjoy a leisurely meal, and return home safely. In fact, your biggest gripe may be that nobody even takes notice of your presence. Why would they? After all, what’s so exotic about a white person ordering food at a taco truck in NELA? Visible evidence of “latiino” gang members is less common. Enough of the polarizing and race-baiting paranoia and learn to live in your adopted community or not. The choice is yours and nobody but your fears and prejudices can stop you.

        • Did you go to therapy? You do not sound the same…….
Btw. I have no fears, having lived Here, in Echo Park and Silverlake. I know and enjoy my neighbors. However, when person start spewing the kind of thing I posted above, I do take notice.

Glad your new meds are working egp!

  6. This really sucks how violence like this can some how even follow the nicest gentlest people. I went to school with the victim and he was a great guy who loved bikes, ckateboardkng and bmx. I just can’t believe this. I give my prayers out to his family and loved ones and I just hope something like this doesn’t happen to anyone else because it’s the worst feeling knowing that someone you once knew has left this planet.
Unnecessary violence needs to end, this type of violence effects many people.

  7. MM is right. I can not believe the ignorant comments. If you don’t want to know the truth then don’t live here

    • Your attitude sucks, Susan. “My neighborhood has always been full of trash and violence and graffiti, and that’s just how it is. Ho hum, that’s just the way things are.”

      • We can and have improved our neighborhoods. The biggest change is when Councilmember Gil Cedillo got elected. Our neighborhoods are much cleaner. We now for the first time in Cypress Park has lights on our streets. He has staff that actually works!! It is very different than the ex-councilmember do nothing Ed Reyes days. When someone has good staff that is when a great job gets done. Councilmember Cedillo has an excellent staff that cares about the nieighborhoods and does a great job!!

Locals with deep roots see a group out outsiders coming in to take over our neighborhoods. Problem is do we welcome them? We don’t want the neighborhood to change. We don’t want Northeast to become another Westside LA with all the traffic and too much development. There are many issues with people that have lived here for decades. We need a forum. to discuss this.

It’s not about race! It is about changing the neighborhood!

      • I would rather have trash and violence then the traffic and overdevelopment of Hollywood and the Westside. We need to look at improving things without changing the neighborhood. But newbie’s don’t always look at that. They just look at another Westside coming to Northeast.

  8. I highly doubt there will be any retaliation. Not saying that there will not be hoodlums with that in mind, but a crime that happened at 2:30 in the morning will likely go unpunished and unidentified by who actually “done it”. The heavy police presence nowadays thwarts the sudden retaliation that would usually happen after a gang incident has taken place. Point is despite how “gangster” these kids are no one wants to go to jail anymore.

  9. I can only pray that our kids or adults learn that taking a life does not make you a better or fearful person. it only means that the life you took away will only hurt so many other in ways that we should not have to feel. The pain the family will now have to feel should not have to be felt. If you must have your disagreement were you must hurt each other do with your hands not with weapons that can take ones life away. At least you both will live another day and once it is done let it go why is so hard for people to just understand that life can only be felt once and once it is taken away it is gone forever. So lets grow up and respect life and enjoy life like we are suppose too. lord hear our prayers .

    • A Friend, I totally agree. Except at the end, which Lord are you referring to? Which religion? You would have better luck speaking with the outlaws and trying to turn them around.
