Can’t believe that in 2015 we’re still talking about building more freeways. Put those billions of dollars into mass transit and bike lanes!

  2. Light rail or bust. Mconnect the Gold Line from Pasadena to East LA.

  3. The only city that wants the 710 extension is Alhambra. Let them build a freeway through their city, not El Sereno and Pasadena.

  4. All environmental/neighborhood issues aside, the ROI on the 710 tunnel project is just pitiful. It’d be fiscally insane to blow $5-10 billion just to speed up rush hour commutes by a minute or two (or in the case of the 405 widening, rush hour commutes are actually worse now, LOL!)

Too bad the light rail route they chose to study looks pretty useless as well since it doesn’t even connect to downtown Pasadena… seems like they purposefully made that option crappy so CalTrans will get their way. Shameful.

If Metro actually backs the freeway option, they’ll be losing a lot of popular support for any future transit tax measures they want on the ballot in 2016 — I know I won’t be voting for more transit tax increases if I know that Metro is just in CalTrans back pocket, no matter how retrograde the project,
