EAST LOS ANGELES — Mickey, a miligold macaw with green, yellow and blue feathers, was stolen off a porch in East L.A. last week as the horrified owner looked on. Now, there’s a $1,000 reward being offered for Mickey’s return.

Mickey was in his cage on the front porch when he started making loud noises. Owner Maria Chavez looked through her window and saw a man taking the bird out of its cage. Chavez, who lives in the 4800 block of Michigan Avenue, confronted the man but he fled with Mickey, according to the L.A. Count Sheriff’s Department. The suspect, described as a Latino male in his 20s, is believed to have jumped a fence to enter Chavez’ yard.

Today, the L.A. Times reports that a $1,000 reward is being offered for Mickey, who likes to run around the house with the family’s pit bull.

“I’m not going to ask any questions,” Chavez told The Times. “Only bring him back.”

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Sanchez at the sheriff’s East Los Angeles Station at (323) 264-4151.
