Hollywood’s Duplass brothers have different tastes when it comes to Eastside homes

The Eagle Rock home purchased by Jay Duplass in February for $1.76 million

Brothers Jay and Mark Duplass have been busy in Hollywood as well as in real estate. Last December, writer-director Jay Duplass, executive director of the TV show Togetherness, purchased a $1.76 million Spanish Colonial-Revival home in Eagle Rock, which happens to be the setting for his program.

A few months later, brother Mark Duplass, a producer and actor, has also purchased a home, reports Variety. But while older brother Jay apparently prefers classic 1920s architecture, Mark Duplass seems to gravitate to much more modern and pricey Silver Lake real estate, paying $4.4 million for a Barbara Bestor-designed hillside home with six bedrooms, three fireplaces and large swimming pool. The  sale was completed in April.

The $4.4-million price tag makes Mark Duplass and wife Katie Aselton the owners of the second most expensive home in Silver Lake, according to Redfin. (Last year’s sale of a John Lautner home for $8.55 million is by far Silver Lake’s most expensive single-family house).
