HIGHLAND PARK — A motor vehicle struck a cyclist early this morning near Figueroa Street and Marmion Way, killing the rider who was dragged about 500 feet, according to CBS2.

The collision near the border of Highland Park and Cypress Park took place at about 3 a.m. It’s not clear whether the cyclist, who was with another rider, was on his bike or on foot when struck crossing the street. The victim was described as a man in his early 20s.

Residents told ABC7 that a vehicle, possibly a dark-colored sedan,  was racing down the street at about 80 miles per hour when it struck the victim. The bumper was torn of the vehicle but it never stopped.
