Looks like President Obama will be swinging through parts of Eagle Rock and Highland Park on Friday as part of a two-day visit to Los Angeles that begins this afternoon.  In between fundraisers and other appearances, the President is scheduled to be interviewed on Friday morning in the Highland Park garage studio of comedian Marc Maron for his WTF With Marc Maron podcast, according A.V. Club.

Dominic Patten of Deadline Hollywood says the White House requested a spot on the program, which has been downloaded more than 100 million times, for the President:

The plan is that before Obama jumps on Air Force One on June 19 to head up to San Fran for more Democratic Party fundraisers, the pop culture-conscious POTUS will swing by the comedian’s garage studio in the morning for a just over one-hour sit-down. The White House reached out to Maron’s team a couple of weeks back to set up the interview, sources tell me. The commercial-free podcast with the President is set to be posted online June 22.

An LAPD traffic advisory distributed by the Daily News and other news sites says that motorists should avoid the following areas on Friday (June 19):

  •  Ventura (134) Freeway and Colorado Boulevard between 8 a.m. and noon
  •  Colorado Boulevard and Figueroa Street between 8 a.m. and noon
  • York Boulevard and Avenue 51 between 9 a.m. and noon
  •  Yosemite Drive and Avenue 56 between 9 a.m. and noon

Is the President going to visit Occidental College in Eagle Rock after the WTF interview or pick up some vegan donuts and an horchatta latte on York? Stay tuned.

  1. POTUS is doing an interview with Marc Maron in his garage.

  2. I live on the same street, so i get to miss a day of work with no pay so the Pres can hang out with hipsters. Stay on the west-side mejor.

    • Couldn’t you just park your car on some other street and walk over? Or heaven forbid, take the bus?

Not for nothing, but a lot of people would consider it an honor to have the leader of the free world visit their neighborhood.

      • Yeah I have never understood why people in LA loose their shit when he’s just passing through during hours you’re already at work or just find something else to do. It’s the god damn President. suck. it. up.

      • I agree. Would be happy just to see his limo. I live very close to the streets involved…

    • yikes… because the world revolves around you. you are more self-centered than the “hipsters” you detest. try and be more resourceful? maybe that’s why you work at a job where you can’t take any paid days off.

    • I’ve taken the bus from my house in Echo Park to work in Eagle Rock, used to take it to work at USC.

It’s faster than driving. Cry me a river.

  3. This is awesome!!!

  4. The horrors of gentrification, friendly white people fixing up their houses is bad enough now there are presidents coming into “our hoods”!?

  5. One one hand, you have to be kidding.

On the other hand, he did go to college here.

  6. Marc Maron’s podcast is awesome. I can’t wait to hear this.

  7. He’s welcome to stop by my garage if he wants too! I’ll get the bikes polished up…

  8. First the white hipsters now a black man IN Highland Park? There goes the neighborhood!

  9. Gentrification complete.

  10. Awesome! Amazing!

  11. Man, those are some vague street closings. To top it off, there is no intersection of Yosemite & Ave 56.
