Officers from the LAPD Northeast Division ran on Sunset Boulevard today as part of a torch run and relay that will eventually head to Long Beach this weekend for the Special Olympics Southern California Summer Games.
Today’s torch run is separate from three other relays that are crossing the country before converging in Los Angeles next month for the Special Olympics World Games.
Sandy Driscoll was on hand today as officers from Northeast Division ran a 4.5-mile segment of the relay between Echo Park and Hollywood. They accepted the torch from Central Division officers near Sunset and Elysian Park Avenue before handing off the torch to the LAPD Hollywood Division at Hollywood Boulevard and Normandie Avenue. Earlier, the relay has passed through portions of Boyle Heights, Highland Park and Lincoln Heights.
