Where will those water-dropping choppers fill up when the Silver Lake Reservoir is drained?

SILVER LAKE — The drone of helicopters filled the sky this afternoon above the Silver Lake Reservoir as water-dropping choppers pumped up water to drop on a brush fire in nearby Glendale. But where will those thirsty fire department choppers go after the reservoir is drained  this summer for at least a year?

Brian Humphrey with the L.A. Fire Department said that the choppers don’t necessarily need an open body of water to refill. In fact,  the airships frequently replenish their tanks after landing at about 25 helispots spots scattered around the area. Once on the ground, the choppers can pump water in from a hydrant or a fire truck.
