Storefront ReportHIGHLAND PARK — Signs reading “Taco Fix Restaurant” and “Coming Soon” recently went up in the windows of the retail space at 5831 North Figueroa Street at the corner of Avenue 59.

Mike Izquierdo, a manager for project, said that Taco Fix is scheduled to open on August 31 and will be a counter-service restaurant serving homemade dishes. They are still finalizing the menus and prices but plan to publish them around August 20. For now, the restaurant’s website is under construction.

Taco Fix will open next door to Mexican bakery chain La Monarca, another newcomer to Figueroa Street that is set to open in coming months in a long-vacant space that had been a medical clinic.

Updated Oct. 22, 2015: The opening of Taco Fix has been pushed back to some time around the end of November. According to manager Mike Izquierdo, during the renovation the team ran into some building and safety issues. After working with the city of LA they have now received approval to continue with their plans.

  1. Wonderful. Highland Park needs a taco place.

    • I suppose this is sarcasm…We have more than enough taco places, My Taco being my favorite. I was hoping for another pizza place…

  2. Preference in order of most desired:

    1. Taco place
    2. Pizza Place
    3. Art Gallery
    4. Juicery
    5..Auto Shop

  3. Holy cow! A taco place? I wish them good luck, but ummmm….. Highland Park has a million taco places. When will someone wake up and start a restaurant with healthy Califirnia cuisine here like Four cafe in Eagle Rock. Seriously, it would be a big hit. There is a real need.

    • “Healthy California cuisine” like the seriously overpriced Four Cafe? No thank you. I’d prefer an affordable taco place with healthy options.

  4. Figueroa needs a good deli instead of tacos. Something at least on par with the heights in Lincoln Heights

  5. Taco Fix… I already hate the name and the logo. This place looks pretty soulless.

  6. Will they offer any game meats, such as quail??

  7. I would love to have a Korean Restaurant here. Yum! What about Ethiopian or Middle Eastern. I love Taco’s too. Good luck to them.

  8. Can’t wait. A taco joint right across the street.

  9. Is this a chain? Because judging by the logo…

  10. Stop bitching im glad there is another taco place in HLP and no overpriced coffee shop that no residents in hlp actually go too

  11. Can I get some cheese to go with the whine that’s happening here?
