HIGHLAND PARK — Police are asking for the public’s help to find the person or persons responsible for bludgeoning a man to death near Sycamore Grove Park on Monday afternoon.

The body of a Latino male between the ages of 40 and and 50 was found near a pedestrian bridge that crosses over the Arroyo Seco Parkway next to the park. The man was declared dead at 3:30 p.m. but his body may have been at the location for several hours. Given the time of day and location, there could have been other people in the park or driving on the freeway that may have seen suspicious activity, police said. A posting this morning on the Facebook page of the LAPD Northeast Division said:

Northeast Detectives are asking for anyone who was in the area yesterday or driving by the 110 FWY and the pedestrian bridge near Sycamore Park to call the number below if they saw or heard ANYTHING suspicious. A small piece of information could be the piece of the puzzle that’s missing.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call Northeast Division Homicide Detectives DiCroce and Watterson at (323) 344-5731. During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (877-527-3247).
