ECHO PARK — A crash this afternoon near Echo Park Lake left a Pontiac Fiero on the sidewalk, with the vehicle wedged between a utility pole and fire hydrant on one side and a retaining wall on the other.

With the vehicle’s doors blocked, the driver got out of the Fiero through the sunroof with the help of firefighters, said Michael Glotzer, who took photos of the crash that took place after 1 p.m. on Santa Ynez Street near Glendale Boulevard. It appeared that the driver’s arm was injured, Glotzer said.

No word on what caused the crash.

  1. Luckily he didn’t take out any pedestrians… or that fire hydrant and light pole. Stay safe out there everyone, it’s not a race!

  2. Jeez, another one! It would be great to see a timeline of these types of crashes as reported on The Eastsider.

  3. based on these photos, he’s lucky he didn’t end up in the lake
