Firefighter stabbed in Boyle Heights hospital

1834 pennsylvania

BOYLE HEIGHTS  — A Los Angeles firefighter was in fair condition tonight after being stabbed in the arm by a patient in a hospital emergency room.

The patient was taken into custody by police following the 9:30 p.m. stabbing in the emergency room of  White Memorial Hospital, according to KTLA.  The suspect was restrained by security guards after he stabbed the firefighter and threatened other staff.

The firefighter will “likely be transported to a local trauma center for further evaluation,” the L.A. Fire Department said in a posting on Twitter.
