Hundreds without power in Silver Lake

SILVER LAKE — About 750 LADWP customers in Silver Lake are without power this afternoon in an outage that might have been the result of a vehicle striking a power pole, said a utility spokeswoman. Service was knocked out to homes and businesses and some traffic signals on Glendale Boulevard also went dark, according to residents.

The service was disrupted beginning at about 11:30 a.m. While some residents in the northeast corner of Silver Lake say their power has been restored, crews are still working to bring the remaining customers online. There’s no estimate yet when full service will be restored.

  1. For such an upscale neighborhood Silver Lake sure has frequent power outages. You would think there would be more outrage from those who are continually inconvenienced with these outages.

    • Yes, those with more money and access to power should voice their “inconvenience” more loudly. (Insert eye roll here)

      • I’m not necessarily saying those with money and connections “should” complain more loudly but it would be ignoring the reality of things to say that those who live in upscale neighborhoods such as Silver Lake don’t. Frankly, why shouldn’t they? It is by complaining that they usually get what they want.
