ECHO PARK — Residents living near the corner of Laveta Terrace and Scott Avenue awoke early this morning to the sound of a car alarm and the sight of a parked SUV in flames.

After hearing a car alarm, a  nearby resident named Cecilia went outside at about 1:30 a.m.  and saw a gray, Toyota 4Runner burning on Laveta Terrace.

“The fire department came quickly,” said Cecilia, who called 911. “It was surreal.”

No word on what may have caused the fire. Early last year, an arson investigator was assigned to look into the burning of two cars two blocks away on Portia Street.
