Police searching for Atwater Village street robbers

ATWATER VILLAGE — The LAPD has released a surveillance video as part of an effort to catch a pair of armed men responsible for recent street robberies.

The video shows one of the suspects, described as  a white male with blonde hair and a mustache,  at a convenience store using a credit card stolen from one of the victims, according to police.  The other suspect is described as an African-American male with a mustache who might be wearing an earring.

The first victim was robbed while walking in the 2800 block of Fletcher Drive at about 5:30 a.m. on September 1. After driving up in a white Kia Optima, “one of the suspects asked the victim for directions, while the second suspect exited the vehicle, pointed a handgun at the victim, and demanded the victim’s property,” according to a police press release.

About 15 minutes later, the suspects drove up and robbed a second pedestrian near Tyburn Street and Atwater Avenue.

Anyone with information about these incidents, or for more information, is asked to call Northeast detective Korn at (323) 344-5751. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).

  1. That’s a magneto t-shirt. Should be pretty easy to remember seeing that on someone.

  2. hope those two frappucinos and a few bucks was worth getting denied good jobs for the rest of your lives for being a dumbass

  3. Wow, a ‘mixed marriage’ crime pair.

  4. Looks like he gave the clerk a driver’s license and a credit card. What are the chances that the name on the driver’s license matched the one on the credit card or that the picture matched his rat face? I hope they catch these people, but with the level of vigilance apparently shown by the clerk, I’m not counting on it.

  5. His partner in the car was wearing a light grey fedora with a black sash. The chances are good he thinks it conceals him and makes him some kind of approachable hipster, so he won’t change it. The car is a 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid.
