Second Debs Park victim identified; homeless raise safety concerns in Boyle Heights

  • Friends identified one of the two women found dead in Debs Park on Wednesday as Briana Gallegos, according to ABC7. The coroner on Thursday identified the other victim as 19-year-old Gabriela Calzada. Homicide investigators have not revealed how the woman died, saying they were awaiting information from the coroner.
  • The body of a driver was catapulted to the top of a freeway sign after his vehicle crashed this morning on the southbound 5 Freeway next to Griffith Park.  The 20-year-old driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene. ABC7
  • Boyle Heights residents expressed concern about the public safety and health issues related to the growing number of homeless persons in parks and other areas. EGP News
