EAST LOS ANGELES —  Los Angeles County Sheriff Department deputies blocked off several streets this morning and residents were told to stay indoors and lock their doors as they searched for a stolen vehicle suspect, who avoided capture.

Deputies sealed off the area near the 500 block of S. Eastmont Avenue at about 8 a.m. after the suspect pulled into the driveway of a home and ran off, said Sgt. Joe Gonzalez at the East L.A. Station.  But the suspect got away and the streets were reopened about an hour later.
