Power out in Echo Park & Glassell Park as high winds hit

Palm fronds are flying, the power is out in some neighborhoods and a wind advisory has been issued as high winds with gusts of up to 40 miles per hours are expected across Los Angeles this morning.

The L.A. Department of Water and Power reports that more than 1,500 customers in the Echo Park area are without power, with full service not expected to be fully restored until 2:30 p.m., the agency said on its outage page.  KTLA’s Ginger Chan reports that power lines have fallen near Lucile Avenue and Marathan Street in Silver Lake.

Meanwhile, in Glassell Park, electrical service is out to more than 500 customers. Power is not expected to be restored until 12:30 a.m. The National Weather Service has placed the area under a wind advisory until 10 a.m.
