Reward issued in fatal East L.A. shooting of football player; residents concerned about new Metrolink engines at Cypress Park rail yard

  • The L.A. County Sheriffs Department has issued a $20,000 reward in connection with the 2013 shooting death of college football player Gabriel Soto in East Los Angeles. Soto was shot while attending a party in a garage in the 600 block of S. McDonnell Street. ABC 7
  • Metrolink has been asked to look into reducing the emissions and noise from 40 new diesel locomotives being stored and tested at its maintenance facility in Cypress Park. The engines are being placed at both ends of commuter trains to increase passenger safety. SGV Tribune
  • The Metro Gold Line between Boyle Heights and Downtown Los Angeles will be closed from 9 p.m. tonight (Nov. 20) through 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 23 to prepare for the relocation of rail tracks. Shuttle buses will transport passengers between the Pico/Aliso and Union Station stops.  The same section of the Gold Line will be closed for approximately three months beginning Dec. 4  Metro
