Man killed on Boyle Heights freeway; Silver Lake pedestrian struck on Sunset

  • A man was fatally struck by a vehicle in the northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway early this morning in Boyle Heights. Officials did not know why the approximately 50-year man was in traffic lanes.  CBS2
  • A 57-year-old man was left in critical condition with head trauma after being hit by a vehicle as he walked across Sunset Boulevard near Maltman Avenue at about 10 p.m. last night.  The man, who was walking outside the crosswalk, was picking up an item that he had dropped when he was struck, said Lt. Nate Williams with the LAPD Central Traffic Division. The motorist, who stopped at the scene, did not see the pedestrian.

  1. Man, so sorry to hear about the fatality on Sunset Blvd, but the amount of jaywalking on that stretch of the boulevard is nothing short of epidemic. We just had some drunk couple shoot out in front of our car, the guy pulling the woman by the arm, with us just missing them by inches. This happens now all the time, day and night. Young immortal hipsters, most of them. This middle aged guy apparently just couldn’t run fast enough. 🙁
