City doubles reward for reporting taggers; tenants & landlords to share quake retrofit costs; L.A. River path closure

MORNING REPORT: The City Council voted to double the reward for reporting a tagger to $2,000 as the number of such rewards has dwindled in recent years .... L.A. landlords and renters will split the costs of earthquake retrofits 50-50 under a new city law that applies to pre-1978, wood-frame buildings with four or more units. .... The L.A. River pathway near Griffith Park will be closed for two weeks beginning Jan. 19 as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers builds a temporary flood control barrier along the banks. Read More »
