MOrning Report

  • The City Council voted to double the reward for reporting a tagger to $2,000 as the number of such rewards has dwindled in recent years.  Some officials have been reluctant to promote the reward for fear that persons”could be shot or beaten up” in the process of obtaining information on taggers. L.A. Now
  • L.A. landlords and renters will split the costs of earthquake retrofits 50-50 under a new city law that applies to pre-1978, wood-frame buildings with four or more units. Renters could pay a maximum of $38 extra a month for 10 years. Daily News
  • The L.A. River pathway near Griffith Park will be closed for two weeks beginning Jan. 19 as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers builds a temporary flood control barrier along the banks. The closure applies to the path between Riverside/Zoo Drive and Los Feliz Boulevard. LADOT Bike Blog
