Survey Says: Masa of Echo Park takes top spot in pizza poll

Our first Sunday Survey asked Eastsider readers what was their favorite Echo Park pizzeria after Pizza Buona closed. The results are in: Masa of Echo Park won first place with Two Boots Pizza coming in a close second. As one reader mentioned, we neglected to include Hard Times Pizza as an option. But Hard Times still received 14 votes that were cast in the Other box, where there were also votes for places like Tomato Pie, Garage Pizza, Palermo’s and Wood. A total of 211 responses were gathered.

  1. Well that was a no brainer

  2. LOL, who voted for Dominos/Little Caesars? That’s barely food, let alone pizza.

    • I voted for Little Caesars (deep dish only). It’s far better than Domino’s (gastronomically and politically). It’s a value thing. I like Masa too.

  3. Mohawk Bend Pizza is horrible. Give me a break. Its only on the menu there because its bar food.

  4. Some of the places that received votes aren’t in Echo Park! Tomato Pie, Garage Pizza, and Palermo’s! They shouldn’t even count!

As for Wood, if no place is in the restaurant, is it still open?

  5. Pizza in LA is generally horrible, none of these are real winners.

  6. If this had been extended to Larchmont, Village Pizza is by far the best in this city, Also continue to RIP Nicky D’s Pizza.

  7. It’s a visual mess but Masa’s pizza is very tasty. Otherwise, Crispy Crust (in Atwater) is my choice. Tasty, fresh, healthy, not too salty, not too oily, I’m pretty familiar with NY’s various “Ray’s” pizzas but comparing L.A. pizza to NYC pizza is like comparing NYC Mexican food to L.A. Mexican food. There is no comparison. Besides, not even Chicago pizza is better than NYC but is comparable to Masa’s, which reminds me of Chicago pizzas I’ve tried.
