Will this help keep Silver Lake dog-poop free?

SILVER LAKE —  Ongoing efforts to remind dog owners to pick up their pets’ poop have taken the form of key chains with a colorful tag that reads “Keep Silver Lake Beautiful Pick Up Poop.” Dan Gershon said he has found them pinned to the fence around the Silver Lake Reservoir during the past year. “I give them to my neighbors,” he said. But who came up with the key chains?

The back of the tag is blank, and there’s no indication who created them, Gershon said. Jen Byrne with the Silver Lake Dog Park also does not know who created the tags.

“I don’t know anything about it, but I think it’s awesome,” Byrne said in an email. ” I hope the key chain concept makes a difference.”

  1. I want one! Can the creator step forward? I would pay for one if the proceeds went to a local rescure group or park cleanup efforts.

  2. We need this in Echo Park too! A lot of people don’t clean up after their pets.

  3. Love this!!!!

  4. For an area that demands the better Whole Foods store, picking up poop is so beneath these turds.

  5. The people who do not pick up their dog’s poop will not change their behavior because of this charm.

  6. Poop bag dispensers placed on every other block, like they have in downtown San Diego!

    • If you can’t even bother to buy poop bags to clean up after your dog, you should not be allowed to own a dog.

  7. That’s not dog poop! That’s what happens when the newly arrived yuppies open their mouths. Don’t let them speak and give the directions to the freeway because they are lost here.
