ECHO PARK — The unexpected blast of winter heat has triggered a burst of color along sections of Glendale Boulevard in Echo Park, where the street trees have been covered in white blossoms. What are these trees anyway?
Echo Park resident and expert on neighborhood flora Michael O’Brien identifies them as Pyrus kawakamii, also known as Evergreen Pear. The trees are blooming slightly early this year due to the weather, he said.
