The L.A. County District Attorney filed assault charges today against a 27-year-old Palos Verdes man after he and his mother allegedly confronted and attacked a group of persons in the Dodger Stadium parking lot after a Mets game last fall.

Michael Rae Papayans is scheduled to be arraigned next month after being charged with felony assault to produce great bodily injury, according to the District Attorney.

Prosecutors said that Papayans’ mother confronted and began yelling epithets at a group of four persons,  one of whom was wearing Mets clothing, in the stadium parking lot on Oct. 9.  Papayans then joined his mother in the argument, punching a 50-year-old man, who fell to the ground and sustained serious head injuries.

Papayan’s mother allegedly kicked the victim in the back while he was on the ground.  Prosecutors referred the mother’s case to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office for misdemeanor filing consideration, according to the District Attorney.

  1. I was born and raised in Los Angeles. My new personal rule: root for the team of the latest assault victim at Dodger Stadium. When you punch a fan of an opposing team, know that you just made more fans of said team.

    Go Mets.

  2. Why can’t people just go & enjoy the game!
I will not go to see my Giants at dodger stadium
I would rather drive to San Diego & enjoy the game
My daughter & her family are going to Dodger stadium
to see their Red Sox, I really wish she wouldn’t go!

  3. My last Dodger game, last season, there were more cops and security than i had seen at any event i have ever been at. Never felt more safe. And i live in East Los Angeles adjacent.
