In Other Shopper & Diner News:

  • El Sereno may be off the beaten path for some diners, but you might want to head to the neighborhood to check out these three Mexican restaurants, the LA Times reports. Try El Vaquero’s Guadalajara influenced torta ahogada with its rich carnitas and red salsa and its crispy tacos dorados de barbacoa. Next up is Los Pinos Market. The restaurant/market specializes in chicharrones and cemitas poblanos, or sandwiches in the style of Puebla, and birria, or goat stew. The food truck, Mariscos Los Lechugas, is the final stop. Dive into the tuna, ground-Ensenada-style, tostada or the mixta especial, a huge pile of tuna, shrimp and more. El Vaquero and Los Pinos Market are both located on the 4800 block of Huntington Drive. Mariscos Las Lechugas is located on the 5200 block of Huntington Drive.
  • Klub Gymnastics’ relocation from Silver Lake to Frogtown brings its clients 35,000 square feet of more space, added programs and upgraded equipment purchased from the recent Special Olympics. There’s also another perk for Frogtown residents – a 50% discount on classes and annual membership fee for 2016. Kids Gymnastics is located on the 1600 block of Blake Avenue in Frogtown.
  • Milkcow is mooo-ving into Los Feliz, reports Eater LA. The Korean-based franchise offers whole milk ice cream favorites, cotton candy-topped soft serve, espresso drinks and pastries. It’s practically right across the street from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, which experienced listeria contamination last year. Expect Milkcow to arrive in a few months. Milkcow is located on the 1900 block of Hillhurst Avenue in Los Feliz.
