BOYLE HEIGHTS — Demolition crews wasted no time last night to begin tearing down the section of the Sixth Street Bridge that crosses over the 101 Freeway, which was closed down in both directions at 10 p.m.

Photographer Kevin Break captured the image above of workers and equipment demolishing the eastern portion of the span as they were bathed in floodlights. An approximately 2.5-mile section of the freeway and numerous onramps and offramps are scheduled to remain closed until Sunday afternoon. Check for updates on Twitter at #101SlowJam.
