  • A 27-year-old woman was killed and her five-year-old daughter severely injured in Boyle Heights after they were struck by a hit-and-run driver on Boyle Avenue. The woman was trying to take the girl out of a parked vehicle when they were struck. Officials are offering a $50,000 reward to help find the hit-and-run driver. ABC7
  • The destruction of office files by former Councilman Tom LaBonge has raised questions about whether the city is complying with state laws and has become an issue in a court case. L.A. Times & Los Feliz Ledger
  • Cedrick Argueta, the Lincoln High senior who earned a perfect score on an AP calculus exam, has been invited to a White House science fair. But the Argueta has not said whether he will attend the event. CBS2
  • Several freeway onramps will be closed this weekend when the demolition of the Sixth Street Bridge will trigger a nearly two-day closure of the 101 Freeway through Boyle Heights. LAPD
